Cameron Addresses 130th Annual Session Attendees

By Terri Fassio, Public Relations Co-Director

  OCTOBER 17, 2014 --

On Thursday evening, October 16th, then Connecticut State Grange President Jody Cameron addressed the delegates and guests at the opening session of the Grange's 130th Annual Convention.

Speaking to Grange members from across the state in his address as outgoing State Grange President, Cameron touched on a wide range of subjects including the membership retention, fiscal responsibility and community service.

"In the past four years we have seen the greatest interest in the Grange that we have seen in decades.  We organized our first new Grange in over 60 years; and have successfully revitalized two Granges,"  Cameron said. “True growth takes work, not only in planning and recruiting, but making newer members an intricate part of the group, thus making them feel welcome and included.”

Throughout the address, Cameron often reflected on his past four years in office, thanking those Grange members who were a part of his team - and who were committed to working on building towards the future, while addressing the challenges head on.

"I have tried to lead with honor and solemnity and at all times keeping your best interest in the forefront of any decision that needed to be made.  I am passionate about the Grange and believe we are on the right road in Connecticut to position ourselves to be here for at least another 130 years; but that sustainability cannot be done by the leadership; it takes all members to ensure our success."
