From the State Grange Secretary: Protect your Grange history

By Edith Schoell, CT State Grange Secretary

  MAY 10, 2013 --

A year or two ago Granges were asked to have a record of bank accounts and signers so your funds would not be lost.  Along this line of thinking- Secretaries:  Where are your minutes and records stored?  Does your family know where they are, or who to contact if something should happen to you?  Will things end up in a dumpster?  We certainly want to retain the history of your Grange.  Perhaps a letter of instructions on where papers are located and a person to contact might be placed with your valuable papers.

If you are fond of Grange jewelry, pins, etc., they could be turned over to the State Grange and “recycled” to younger officers.  This information could be included in the instructions.

Requests have been coming in for the scholarship information.  Do you have college members in your Grange?  Have them apply.  Last year we were able to award five scholarships to students attending various colleges.  Scholarship information can be obtained through the Central Office.
