OCTOBER 2007 --
The throws are in! Earlier this year we asked members to contact us if interested in purchasing a 2008 National Grange Convention Commemorative Throw. They have arrived from the manufacturer and they are beautiful. The throw features our own Convention logo and the 7 state quarters from each of the states in the Northeast Region.
At its September meeting, the Hosting Committee set the price at $40 per throw, an incredible price for such a unique item. State Lecturer Marge Bernhardt, or her designee, will be contacting each of the people who signed up to both deliver the throws and to collect the money. Additional throws will be available for sale after the initial sign-ups are satisfied and it is determined how many will need to be reserved for the National Convention in November ‘08. The throw will be officially unveiled at State Session and more information should be available for those who did not sign-up previously.
To help promote the convention throughout the Northeast region, the committee has purchased special pens with the convention name, date and location printed on them. These will be distributed to each of the 7 states along with a colorful brochure highlighting the beauty of the Nutmeg State.
A color calendar is also being produced and will be distributed at the National Convention in Reno this November. Calendars will also be available at our State Session. We should also remind you that the Limited Edition Truck Banks are still available for $20. They make a great gift— contact any member of the committee.
Members of the committee are also making plans to fly out to Reno, Nevada in November to observe and learn some of the behind the scenes information that will help make our own National Convention run more smoothly.
A great deal of money has been raised already but donations are still needed. If you or your Grange is interested in making a donation to the 2008 National Convention fund, please do so. Your support is greatly appreciated!
