CAES: Arbor Day Tree Planting Event

By CT Agricultural Experiment Station Press Release (4/20/15)

  APRIL 22, 2015 --

The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) and the Connecticut Tree Protective Association (CTPA) announced today that the 2015 Arbor Day Celebration is scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. on the CAES campus at 123 Huntington Street, New Haven, CT, rain or shine.  CTPA celebrates Arbor Day each year by planting a tree with the assistance of the winners of its Arbor Day Poster Contest, and this year the ceremony will take place near the newly renovated Jenkins-Waggoner Laboratory at CAES.  For the Arbor Day Poster Contest, CTPA invites fifth grade students in every county of Connecticut to submit a personally created poster based on the theme My Favorite Tree in My Town.  The CTPA chooses a winner from each county and winners are invited to the tree planting ceremony during which each winner is recognized for their artwork.  Winners also participate in the tree planting.  All winning posters will be displayed at the Tree Planting Ceremony at CAES and will be posted on the CTPA web site (www.ctpa.org).

For more information and directions to the CAES campus, visit http://www.ctpa.org/events/event/arbor-day-2015-celebration/.
