Annual Session - General Information

Notice is hereby given of the 125th Annual Session of the Connecticut State Grange, to be held at the Comfort Inn, 900 East Main Street, Meriden, Connecticut on October 15, 16 and 17, 2009. The morning session on October 15 will open at 9:00 A.M.

The Pre-Session Banquet (Buffet) will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:00 P.M. at the hotel. Tickets will be $24 inclusive. A choice of roast eye round of beef or chicken cutlet will be offered. All Deputies, committee members, and state officers will have tickets for sale. You may also purchase them through the Central Office (860) 633-7550. Reservations must be made in advance and by October 5th.

All Granges should be represented at the Annual Session, as prescribed in the Digest. Delegates will be reimbursed $2.00 per session attended, and each officer not on an expense account, will receive $2.00 per session attended. Mileage will be paid at 27 cents per mile, for one round trip per Grange. It shall be the responsibility of the Delegate(s) to receive payment at the close of the Session from the Treasurer before the delegate(s) leave the hotel.

Room reservations at the hotel must be made by the individual. Tell the reservation desk you are with the Grange when making your reservation. The room rate is $79 plus tax, includes a continental breakfast. I would suggest making your reservations as soon as possible. Tel. 203-440-9600.

Subordinate and Pomona Secretaries will prepare two credential cards enclosed with the Call sent to Granges.

All sessions (with the exception of the Sixth Degree) will be held at the hotel. Candidates for the 6th Degree should be at the hotel by 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 15th if they wish to take the shuttle over to Meriden Grange Hall. Those wishing to arrange their own transportation to the Grange Hall should be at the Hall no later than 7:45 P.M.

Sixth Degree applications may be obtained any time during the session or from the Central Office in advance. Cost is $10. A bus will shuttle members to and from the hall.

Delegates should make every effort to be present at the Opening Session and each session thereafter. Sessions committees should not meet during the regular session. Time has been provided in the schedule for meetings of the sessions committees. State Committee Directors and members will be happy to participate in discussions of any sessions committees, if they are asked. All badges should be left at the table in the rear of the hall at the conclusion of the Session.

The annual session concludes the work of the Grange year. We hope your Grange will be represented to answer the roll call on Thursday morning, October 15 as we look forward to another year of good Grange work in Connecticut.
