Family Activities News: Consider Having A Craft Night

By Dawn Percoski, CT State Grange Family Activities Director

  FEBRUARY 1, 2024 --

On February 3rd we held our Family Activities Zoom meeting. Since I am writing this in December, I don’t know how it turned out yet but I’m sure we all had fun.

Now that winter has us in our grips, I am working on large projects

for the Big E such as Afghans. It keeps me warm while I work! I have also found some really cute simple ornaments to try out for our Christmas area. If you are not into crochet or knitting, maybe sewing is your forte. Those quilted bowl for the microwave sold very well. Or if you have those 40 lb. grain bags (large plastic bags from, say feeding chickens, or bird food bags), they can be easily made into a shopping bag and are also very popular. We didn’t have many and they went so fast!

What else can you think of to have a craft night in your Grange. It can be a separate meeting for just having fun. Maybe you can have the Lecturer’s program during this meeting and have a separate business meeting. Whatever you decide, it’s always more fun to do projects with other people. It that’s not something your Grange can do, then maybe you can gather at someone’s house for snacks and crafts! Good company goes a long way to fight off those winter blues.
