Nov. 7: Coventry Presents program at Vernon

Nov. 14: Vernon presents program at Hillstown.

A combined in-person and zoom meeting enjoyed a fine program on Fairs. Our guest for the evening was Deputy Ted Beebe who filled in as Stewart. Starting with the history and then brought up to date with the establishment and planning of Modern Fairs. This included skits and information on all parts of farm life, Animals, Growing vegetables and preparing food, with prize ribbons for the best. The fair was used to educate “city folk” on rural life and helped them learn where their food came from, and at the same time Farmers were introduced to modern things like electricity which helped them learn about city life. In the 1900’s Mechanical rides, Games, performers and food stands were added. Fairs have remained popular today as a bridge of farm and city life. There is something for everyone and many make the Fair an annual trip. Next month we visit Coventry and present the program, It is always an enjoyable evening and hope many will join us for the fun. Meeting time is 7:30 P.M.
