Eureka Grange mourns loss of Robert Riley

Robert Riley, 78, passed away on Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Alice (Phillips) Riley for 55 years.

Born Oct. 15, 1930 in Hartford, the son of the late Stanley and Cora (Thompson) Riley. Bob worked for Allen Manufacturing and later retired from Holo Krome in 1996.

He was a member and officer of the Eureka Grange #62 for 45 years. He was an avid Red Sox fan. Bob also was a hard worker who loved mowing his lawn. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather that will be sadly missed.

In addition to his devoted wife, Alice, he is survived by two sons, William Riley of Torrington and Craig Riley of Wisconsin; a brother, Jack Riley of Maryland; a sister, Bette Bement and her husband Joseph of Norfolk; 5 grandchildren, Seth, Brandon, Billie Jo, Wayne and Arthur; and four great grandchildren, Nathaniel, William, Chloe and Keegan.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Bakersville United Methodist Church, Bakersville at 2 p.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
