How are your entries coming?

By Anne-Marie Knochenhauer, State W.A. Committee

  MAY 2010 --

I hope everybody has finished, or come close to finishing their entries. Remember each entry has to have a slip on the item telling us who it belongs to, which Grange it represents, and whether it is a Junior or an adult entry.

The different contests you can enter is Needlework, Dress-a-Doll, Crafts, Scrapbooking, and Baking. The Needlework Contest is open to the public and Grange members. The items are returned to the owners after the contest; except 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place which are displayed at State Session. Dress-a-Doll, Crafts, Scrapbooking, and the Baking Contest are for Grangers only and family of Grangers. In Dress-a-Doll and Scrapbooking, the entries are returned to their owners after judging.

In the Craft Contest the theme is "Cat Kapers". There are 2 categories you can enter; one is "needlework" which pertains to anything with a needle; the second category is non-median which is any thing with out use of a needle for example wood, plastic, metal, styrofoam, etc.... You can enter as many as you want in the crafts, but only once in the other contests. The entry in the Craft Contest does not get returned to the owners; they go up to the "Big E" to be sold. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd go to State Session to be displayed; plus they are used as gifts for state dignitaries and the Master and his wife.

To all the mothers - "Happy Mother's" day.
